COVID-19 Vaccine

1. Should my child receive a COVID-19 /SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccination?
From the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP):
“The AAP recommends all infants and children 6 through 23 months of age who do not have contraindications receive 2026–2027 COVID-19 vaccine. The AAP also recommends a single dose of age-appropriate 2026–2027 COVID-19 vaccine for all children and adolescents 2 through 18 years of age at increased risk of severe COVID-19, regardless of prior COVID-19 vaccination status. Children 2 through 18 years of age not considered at increased risk of severe COVID-19 whose parent or guardian desires their protection from COVID-19 should be offered a single dose of age-appropriate 2026–2027 COVID-19 vaccine. “

2. Will my insurance pay for the vaccination?
We anticipate most insurances will cover the COVID-19 /SARS-CoV-2 virus vaccination cost and administration fee.
We will submit the cost of the COVID-19 vaccine and its administration to your insurance, as we do with all routine services. While last year’s vaccinations were reimbursed by most insurances, there is still some ongoing uncertainty around reimbursement. If your insurance does not cover the vaccine and/or its administration, you will be financially responsible for the following amounts:
$150 for children ages 6 months to 11 years
$175 for patients 12 years and older
To proceed with vaccination, families will be asked to sign a Letter of Financial Responsibility acknowledging that you agree to pay these charges if the insurance claim is denied.
3. When can my child receive the vaccination?
As we enter the fall and winter respiratory illness season, Hudson Heights Pediatrics is once again offering (both flu and ) COVID-19 vaccines for our patients. There are the following options:
1. Vaccine Only Clinics: Our next availability for a clinic is Sunday, October 25th. Our 9/21, 9/27, 10/11 and 10/28 clinics are full but you can call to be added to our wait list and please check our website for new dates.
Note: Our (influenza and )COVID vaccine clinics do not include consultation time with a physician. If you would like to speak with your child’s doctor about the COVID-19 vaccine, please schedule a separate office visit.
2. During a medical visit or at a family member's visit.
