Diarrhea

  • If your child is having diarrhea, the most important thing is to make sure that they are able to take in enough fluids to keep up with what’s coming out the other end.

  • Foods to avoid are:

    • non-yogurt dairy products

    • anything fried or greasy

    • anything high in fat

    • juice

  • We should see your child in the office if:

    • You are worried that they are getting dehydrated

    • The diarrhea isn’t improving after 5 days (it may still linger for 1-2 weeks total, but should be getting better by the 5th day)

    • They are having very bad stomach or abdominal pain

    • The diarrhea is bloody or associated with fever
